All Saints School
We at All Saints feel very privileged to have this opportunity to take part in this City University Project.
Over the years the support provided to secondary schools for students with language and communication difficulties have become non existent, however, the number of students with these difficulties are increasing each year.
The students targeted for this project are exactly those who are often overlooked or left out. They are not necessarily at the bottom end of the scale, but can easily go though life without being recognised.
Often no interventions or targets are implemented for them and too often it is assumed that they can cope on their own. The aim of this project is to identify the students who find it difficult to access the curriculum because of their language and communication difficulties.
I strongly believe that this intervention programme and the implementation of strategies to support the students, will help them to overcome these barriers and lead to their improved understanding and performance. Each student will then benefit from this and ultimately the whole school will too.
So far each student has absolutely loved being part of the project and they often come and ask when it is their turn again. 'Being noticed' has already been a major strength of the success of this project. The children realise this and are all very appreciative of what has been done so far for them. Working with such wonderful, enthusiastic and supportive psychologists has been a major positive-particularly for me!
I am looking forward to the successful outcomes of this project in the near future.
